“Sisu Diriya” Scholarship Fund

Based on the vision of the Chairman and with the support of Venerable Dr. Pallegama Sirinivasa Thero, the Anuradhapura Kidney Care Foundation has run the “Sisu Diriya” Scholarship Fund since June 2016, helping children of kidney patients undergoing dialysis in Anuradhapura district hospitals pursue their education.

Since that year, we have opened an account in the Bank of Ceylon, the Regional Development Bank and the People’s Bank in their names until the child completes his school education and provide scholarships through it. The funds required for this are found from the following donations and donations from institutions and individuals.

We are providing Sisu Diriya scholarships to 254 students studying in the year 2025 as follows.

We are crediting money to the accounts of school children on a monthly basis as follows:

  • Rs.  750/= per child per month from pre-school education to year five
  • Rs. 1250/= per child per month from year six to year 11 (GCE) until the completion of the Ordinary Level
  • Rs. 1750/= per child from year 12 and 13 (GCE) until the completion of the Advanced Level

We are pleased to inform you that we will increase this scholarship amount by Rs. 250/= per child from the year 2026.

  • Donation box placed in front of the Jaya Sri Ma Bodhiya Prarthana Bodhiya

  • Donation box placed in front of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya

  • Donation box placed in front of the entrance gate of the Isurumuniya Rajamaha Viharaya

  • Donation box placed in front of the central courtyard of Mihintale

  • Donation boxes placed in People’s Bank, Bank of Ceylon, Regional Development Banks and mortgage and investment banks throughout Sri Lanka in the Anuradhapura district

  • Donation boxes placed in 5 public places under the coordination of Mr. R.M. Wimalaratne, resident of Kodigama, Kosgama

  • Private businesses and donors who have expressed their willingness

At the beginning of each academic year, we donate a set of school supplies to school children. This year too, arrangements were made to provide a set of school supplies for 235 scholarship children for the 2024 academic year.

This translates to an approximate cost of Rs. 898,302/= for school books, Rs. 4,26,775/= for school bags, and Rs. 780,000/= for school shoes in 2025.
A total of Rs. 2,105,077/= will be spent on annual school supplies and events.
