Criteria for selecting patients who will benefit from the Anuradhapura Kidney Protection Foundation

  • Must be a child of a patient undergoing either hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
  • The nephrologist must recommend that the mother or father of the child requesting the scholarship has a kidney disease
  • A school-going child with kidney disease
  • The information and residential details of the kidney patient and the child stated on the back of the application must be confirmed as true and certified by the Grama Sevaka Officer, with final approval from the Divisional Secretary
  • The Anuradhapura Kidney Protection Foundation will open a new account and deposit scholarship funds into that account on a quarterly basis
  • The nephrologist should recommend that the patient in question undergoes peritoneal dialysis treatment
  • Taking to consideration the on-site examination and the patient’s income status, a sponsor should be identified as a first step. Where sponsorship is not available, costs shall be restricted to a maximum of Rs. 200,000/= infrastructure support shall be arranged, and subsequent follow-up shall be carried out
  • The person making the request must be a kidney patient or the child of a kidney patient
  • The Anuradhapura Kidney Protection Foundation Committee will approve the loan at 12% annual interest only if the patient’s requirements are accurately evaluated and satisfactory
  • The kidney transplant must have been performed by the Renal Unit of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital
  • The specialist doctor must provide written confirmation of this
  • A written confirmation from the Grama Sevaka Officer of the village where the patient resides that he/she is a low-income earner must be provided to the office
